The Bungalow

From entertainment visionary Brent Bolthouse comes The Bungalow; is a model in extravagant socializing and a creative gathering place for the Westside of Los Angeles The Bungalow is a space that provokes a casual, beachside Baja lifestyle. The place seems more like a home than a bar, with mismatched tables, chairs and couches.

In addition to the front deck with its fire pits, lush foliage and twinkling tree lanterns, the Bungalow also has a casual game room with a pool table, a private dining room, a back garden with tables for bottle service and a large main bar with high raftered ceilings. Moroccan tile work, Mexican blankets, multiple fireplaces, whitewashed walls, French doors and custom brickwork complete the scene.

41 Ocean

Centrally positioned across from the Santa Monica Pier, 41 Ocean is a secret treasure tucked away down a courtyard just off Ocean Avenue. With over a dozen hotels within walking distance, 41 Ocean is a comfortable and fresh alternative to the dull banquet hall. Offering both indoor and outdoor bar and lounge areas with bottle service, the simple layout allows for your experience to be tailored to your every need.

41 Ocean offers patrons a fun atmosphere with a usually fun and easy going crowd. But be sure to arrive early, as the popularity of this club results in the line usually growing long and moving slowly. Make sure to check out Upcoming Events at 41 Ocean.

31Ten Lounge

31TEN Lounge attracts popular professionals and club-goers who are looking for something offbeat than the typical Hollywood hysteria. … At around 11 pm the lounge converts into a club atmosphere as the line starts to form outside.

Those ready to hit the town early drop by for upscale bites of wood-oven pizza and tacos or the solid Happy Hour deals like $4 beers, settling in on soft, cream-colored chairs surrounded by the warmth of exposed brick and sleek hardwood. 31Ten offers bottle service and tables for reservation, as resident DJ Sir Marcus turns up the toe-tapping tracks throughout the night.

Use the Discotech app to book bottle service at 31Ten.

Canary

Santa Monica’s nightlife scene is getting a boost quite soon, due to to the imminent opening of a new live music venue and bar called Canary.

Canary is presumed to open this summer inside the former West End location just off Arizona near 5th Street. The owners hope to turn the club into a lush green and gold hideaway, with opportunity for energetic music multiple times per night. The club will entertain live acts on Thursday and Friday from 10 p.m. to midnight, with DJs filling out much of the rest of the evenings. Sundays will feature jazz, similar to the new jazz and funk nights happening nearby at Ingo’s Tasty Diner in Santa Monica.

Nameless

Not much has been written about this place. Nameless is a brand new techno bar in Santa Monica that’s rapidly growing in popularity. Why? Few places in LA truly cater to crowds searching for underground sounds. Que Nameless.

The bar offers bottle service, free entry, and is centrally located to many other popular bars in Santa Monica. With many perks and lots to offer, Nameless is a great place to start or end your night. The crowd is usually younger, drawing in the college scene.

Circle Bar

Named for its long, oval-shaped bar that stands in the center of the room, this famous Westside bar has served everyone from Jim Morrison to Truman Capote since its 1949 opening. Strong drinks and a packed dance floor have kept nostalgic locals as well as new comers coming back over the years.

The crowd at Circle Bar is very diverse, as you never really know who’s going to be rolling through. However, the DJ ensures everyone has a great time. The service is quick and Circle Bar is located in a great location. A definite must stop if touring local bars in Santa Monica.

The Bungalow – Santa Monica’s Best Beach Cocktail Bar

From hospitality visionary Brent Bolthouse comes The Bungalow; is a paradigm in romantic socializing and creative meeting space for the Westside of Los Angeles The Bungalow is a space that evokes a breezy, beachside Baja lifestyle. The place feels more like a home than a bar, with mismatched tables, chairs and couches. In addition to the front deck with its fire pits, lush foliage and twinkling tree lanterns, the Bungalow also has a laid-back game room with a pool table, a private dining room, a back garden and a large main bar with high raftered ceilings. Moroccan tile work, Mexican blankets, multiple fireplaces, whitewashed walls, French doors and custom brickwork complete the scene.

This is what you thought LA would be—an endless summer where the margaritas are always flowing and the ocean is just steps away. Brent Bolthouse’s newest (and first Westside) venture is also his most casual. The Bungalow—an actual bungalow on the grounds of Santa Monica’s Fairmont Miramar—is a boho retreat decorated in Baja-Cali style, making a night of drinks feel like a house party. Order one of the potent mezcal creations at the outdoor bar and hang out by the fire pit or head inside to lounge on one of the Mexican blanket-wrapped couches. If you’re feeling active (or competitive), there’s an outdoor ping pong table and indoor pool table. Though the hotel boasts a star chef, Fig’s Ray Garcia, the menu is still limited to appetizers like chips and guac ($7).

Vitals

Good for: Without a doubt, time your arrival to sunset. There’s nothing like a round of drinks downed while watching the sky turn a gorgeous pink-gold. So what if we owe the colors to the city’s smoggy atmosphere?

The Scene: The Bungalow has a split personality. Tuesday through Thursday, it’s an all-ages—21+, of course—assortment of Westside locals and casual good vibes, but come Friday and Saturday, Hollywood-style lines—with the crowd to match—spill across the courtyard.  Our vote? Lazy Sundays.

The Playlist: Just as changeable as the crowd. You’ll get anything from mellow surf tunes to classic Hendrix. Bolthouse himself occasionally makes an appearance on the turn tables.

Drink This: If they’re going to call it Bitchin’ Sangria ($10) it had better be good. This tasty concoction is elevated by a seasonal mix of fruits from the nearby Santa Monica Farmers Market and the addition of pisco.

Hours of Operation
Monday-Friday: 5:00pm – 2:00am
Saturdays: 12:00pm – 2:00am
