Floyd Money Mayweather Drops Stacks at E11EVEN

They don’t call him “Money Mayweather” for nothing.

Floyd Mayweather lived up to his nickname by throwing $5,000 into the air at Miami hot spot E11EVEN, and then threw down even more dough on bottle service for his VIP crew Wednesday morning, an insider told Page Six.

We’re told the boxing champ, 41, arrived at the club around 3 a.m. in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter dressed in a Nike hoodie, matching shorts and his headline-making $18 million Jacob and Co. watch.

Accompanied by a large crew of about 20 people, Mayweather was ushered in through the VIP door and seated at a secluded table in the club’s party pit.

“Within minutes of walking in, Mayweather started flooding the club floor with bills,” our insider said. “Clubgoers were going nuts realizing who it was after it happened.”

While the former fighter is known for not drinking alcohol, our source says “He didn’t mind spending his funds bottle service at e11even for his friends,” and ordered multiple bottles of Grey Goose, Don Julio 1942, Moët Nectar Rose and Hennessy to his table.

After settling in with pals, Mayweather made money rain down on clubgoers once again.

According to our source, with the money he tossed carelessly into the air, plus his $6,000 bottle service bill, Mayweather shelled out $11,000 for an epically expensive night out on the town.

Also at the club was former FIFA World Player of the Year Ronaldinho, who arrived just after Mayweather made his exit at about 6 a.m.

What Cities in the US Have Nightlife Past 2 AM?

While quite a few cities across America have nightclubs and bars that are open past 2am, Las Vegas, New York City, Los Angeles, and Miami are the four nightlife capitals of the U.S., if not the entire world. Each of these cities boasts nightlife venue variety for all kinds of musical, ethnic, and socioeconomic tastes numbering in the several hundreds, with new ones popping up every day.

It is true that most L.A. nightclub venues stop serving alcohol at around 1:30am and close at 2am, but there are few that stay open past 2am until 3–4am – specifically, Academy, Exchange LA, and Avalon. In Las Vegas, New York, and Miami, most nightclubs stay open well past 3am, with the hottest and most popular ones going until 5–6am. There are a couple venues in each city that stay open til dawn, such as Space Miami, and Drai’s After Hours.

For those of you night owls visiting a major U.S. city to do some partying, the Discotech app is an essential planning tool for seeing how late your selected clubs will be open. You can use our app to browse club and pool party events by specific days of the week, holidays, or dates you’ll be in town. Then, you can even take the next step within the app, using its features to buy tickets, sign up for guest lists, or even reserve tables if you’re feeling super-fancy. The app event info refreshes daily, pulling from various entertainment online resources including the official websites of the clubs themselves, so it’s always current, accurate, and in the know. We are live in the four aforementioned top-tier cities and six other second-tier markets in the U.S., and we work with nearly 200 nightlife venues, including every one of the Top 10 nightlife venues mentioned in the Forbes list and 95% of the list’s Top 100.

Miami’s Best Latin Nightclubs for Salsa

Miami is known for many things, including — but not limited to — horrible drivers, corrupt politicians, and cocaine. But what gives the Magic City its sabor picante are all of the cubanos, dominicanos, venezolanos, colombianos, and other Latinos who call the 305 home.

Miami is one of the most diverse cities in America, and that diversity does wonders for our nightlife. The streets are a mecca of culture, and the Hispanics of Miami are the heartbeat of it all.

And if there is one thing los latinos of the 305 do better than anybody else, it’s throw tremendas pachangas. Just take a stroll through Hialeah or Calle Ocho on a Saturday night, and see for yourself.

That’s the beauty of living in Myami. Lets get ready to salsa!

1. Hoy Como Ayer, 2212 SW Eighth St., Miami; 305-541-2631; hoycomoayer.us.

Hoy Como Ayer is all about las estrellas musicales and el sonido Latino. From Amaury Gutiérrez’s Latin Grammy Award-winning “Guajira con Tumbao” to Albita’s legendary “Fiesta Pa’los Rumberos” and the electronic mezcal of the Spam Allstars, every night is an over-the-top fiesta where the dancing never stops, the conga drums are always kickin’, and the Bacardi is flowing. Long live Hoy Como Ayer.

2. Ball & Chain, 1513 SW Eighth St., Miami; 305-643-7820; ballandchainmiami.com.

Its original incarnation was born in 1935 and died in 1957. Billie Holiday, Chet Baker, and many more came through the Calle Ocho club, making it one of Miami’s hottest destinations. Back in September 2014, brothers Zack and Ben Bush decided to reopen Ball & Chain and restore its former glory. Since then, the place has become one of Calle Ocho’s most popular bars, attracting both old and young, Latin and gringo. Its backyard pineapple stage — that’s, yes, shaped like a pineapple — is the perfect place to sip a cocktail during the day or salsa your pants off at night. Its mix of vintage and modern has managed to charm Miami, turning Ball & Chain into a welcome destination for tourists and locals.

3. Club Tipico Dominicano, 1344 NW 36th St., Miami; 305-634-7819; clubtipicodominicano.com.

When it comes to discotecas, it doesn’t get more legit than Club Tipico Dominicano. By day, the Allapattah joint — which was established in 1987 — serves typical Dominican grub ranging from mangú to mondongo. Come nightfall, the restaurant transforms into una tremenda pachanga, where on weekends, hip-gyrating rumberos from all over the 305 gather for nonstop salsa, merengue, and bachata. But don’t miss Sunday night’s long-standing Domingo Playero, which features special guests; drink, bottle, and hookah specials; and a slew of DJs that keep the party running all night long. You might want to call in sick on Monday.

4. La Covacha, 10730 NW 25th St., Doral; 305-594-3717; lacovacha.com.

Sure, Doral may be nothing more than a collection of warehouses, businesses, and trucks — OK, downtown Doral and CityPlace Doral are slowly but surely transforming that image — but this commercial hot spot is also home to one of the best Latin clubs in the 305. Attracting reggaetoneros Alexis y Fido, Tony Dize, Chino y Nacho, and J Alvarez, as well as Oscar D’Leon, Tito el Bambino, and other salseros, this place has been bringing la rumba to the Magic City for more than two decades. And with nightly parties and drink specials, we’re pretty sure La Covacha will remain a mecca of Latin music for years to come.

5. El Patio Wynwood, 167 NW 23rd St., Miami; 786-409-2241; elpatiowynwood.com.

When El Patio Wynwood first opened, owners wanted to offer “something Latin, but funky and not commercial.” That’s what co-owner Nicolas Hoyos told New Times the day before the cozy outdoor venue celebrated its launch two years ago. With furniture literally imported from Colombia, El Patio has that cozy abuela vibe, while still offering a vibrant, upbeat atmosphere. Its owners worked closely with local Latin musician Mr. Pauer — who spins tropical beats on Sunday — to curate music that ranges from vintage salsa to modern Latin meets electronic. Combine that with a cheap happy hour and live bands, and you can’t go wrong.

6. Las Tabernas de Wancho, 2100 W. 76th St., Hialeah; 305-822-7833; lastabernasdewancho.com.

To get to Las Tabernas de Wancho, you’ll need to navigate the Palmetto, then exit, park, and head for the top floor of a nondescript shopping center in Hialeah. On the fifth story of said building, you’ll find three rooms: There’s La Rumbateka, which fits about 450 and plays mostly merengue and bachata. The most recent addition is Club 5 “Blue Moon,” a smaller space that draws a younger crowd with a mix of hip-hop, reggaeton, and techno. The last room, La Fonda Paisa, resembles a pueblito. Each room features a disco ball and bottle service, and by the time you take that last shot, you’ll wonder where this place has been all your life.

7. Punch Miami, 5580 NE Fourth Ct., Miami; 305-758-9932; punchmiami.com.

Though this is Miami, there are few Cuban-themed party halls. That’s where Punch Miami comes in — from the neon Cuban flag to the name and decor of the lounge, which was inspired by a taxi ride from the Havana airport and a stop at a rundown boxing ring. Taking over the former News Lounge space, Punch, which opened just about a year ago, is the brainchild of El Patio Wynwood’s Nicolas Hoyos and Beto Perez. Like El Patio, Punch plays music curated by Mr. Pauer, and “reasón” is the signature sound: “re” for reggeaton, “sa” for salsa, and “són” for son. And of course, Punch boasts some of the best happy hour specials in the 305, with $1 mojitos, $1 draft beers, and $10 mojito punch bowls from 5 to 9 p.m. ¡Fuácata!

Best South Beach Pool Parties / Dayclubs 2017

Catching rays in our designer bikinis, sippin’ juicy umbrella drinks, and chillin’ by the pool. This is one case where the stereotype is true: Miami knows how to have fun in the sun.

A lot of it has to do with that whole carefree vibe you get from living in Miami, but the reason we’re always walking around half-naked and tan is because

of all the kick-ass pool parties we’re able to crash — especially in South Beach. Yes, it’s a bit of a tourist trap, but every Miamian has a soft spot for South Beach even if they won’t admit it.

So next time you feel like crossing the bridge and getting wet, keep in mind these ten best pool party spots on SoBe. Now go get your splash on.

1. The Standard Spa – 40 Island Ave., Miami Beach; 305-673-1717

The beach is one of Miami’s greatest treasures, but every trip there ends with grains of sand stuck in places we didn’t even know existed. At the Standard’s pool, though, relaxing on one of the many lounge chairs or on the makeshift beach — sans sand, of course — is like spending a day on South Beach. That’s because the infinity pool, equipped with an underwater sound system, is so close to the water that if you stand at just the right angle, it seems to disappear into the bay. Being that the Standard is a spa within itself, you know there’s bound to be lots of pampering, like the Arctic Plunge, a 50-degree minipool that claims to “increase your heart rate and kickstart your circulation.” If sitting in an ice box for the recommended minute isn’t your thing, the Roman waterfall hot tub will warm your insides with eight feet of 103-degree water to “alleviate pain and detoxify” the body. With a waterfront wooden deck, the Standard also offers paddleboarding lessons. All of this fun comes with a pretty hefty price tag — $75 for a day pass Monday through Thursday and $150 Friday through Sunday and holidays or the equivalent in spa spending — but at least you won’t have sand glued to your body for days.

2. The Freehand Miami – 2727 Indian Creek Dr., Miami Beach; 305-531-2727

The Freehand Miami gained popularity thanks to Gabriel Orta and the rest of the mixologists at the Broken Shaker, but Miami Beach’s first upscale hostel has also made a name for itself with its intimate pool parties. With a Ping-Pong table, colorful decor, tasty cocktails, and themed splash bashes that present some of the best underground DJs in the 305, the Freehand is a welcome escape from reality. The party continues ’round the clock at this millennial tourist hub, but the monthly Full Moon Night Swims are particularly special and provide a rare opportunity for visitors to mix with the locals. During the monthly events, Miami-based artisans showcase their creations beneath the glow of lanterns and a breathtaking full moon.

3. 1 Hotel South Beach Rooftop – 2341 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-604-1000

There’s no more beautiful view than a Miami sunset, and a rooftop view is even better. The 1 Hotel South Beach Rooftop pool makes it easy to take in the orange, lilac, and pink afterglow of a hot Miami day. Take a dip at dusk for a refreshing respite from the humidity and stress of rush-hour traffic. The rooftop pool is open to nonguests after 6 p.m., DJs begin spinning as early as 3 p.m. Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. After a long day at work and a stressful commute, you’ll fall in love with the city you call home when you view it from poolside heaven.

4. Hyde Beach at the SLS Hotel – 1701 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-674-1701

A ten-foot, 700-pound rubber ducky is not something you would expect to find at a swanky boutique hotel. At Hyde Beach at the SLS Hotel, however, a giant silver statue of a rubber ducky sits on the east end of the hotel guest pool, right before the garden and beach pool. Designer Philippe Stark imagined both swimming pools to resemble a bath tub, hence the ducky. In other words, he wanted to make all of your childhood fantasies come true. Pool access for nonguests depends upon availability Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the entrance fee is at the doorman’s discretion.

5. Raleigh Hotel – 1775 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-534-6300

The wow factor at the Raleigh is its 1940s-era crest-shaped swimming pool. Named one of 12 over-the-top Pools by Forbes, the two-tiered pool with a vintage diving board has made the Raleigh the highlight of Chanel fashion shows, the cover of magazine spreads, and the talk of some of the hottest pool parties around town. Lined with lounge chairs, curtain-covered canopies, and striped umbrellas, the pool prioritizes hotel guests, but passes are available for nonguests while space allows. Passes cost $30 Monday through Thursday and $60 Friday through Sunday. A poolside chair, towels, and Wi-Fi access are included, along with DJs playing from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

6. Clevelander South Beach Hotel & Bar – 1020 Ocean Dr., Miami Beach; 305-532-4006

You’ve driven by the Clevelander when showing visitors around town, but maybe you thought you were too cool to hit up a South Beach tourist staple. Admit it: Bouncing beach balls in the pool and playing tourist for the day looks pretty fun. The folks at the Clevelander want you to play with the out-of-towners; their pool is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. Memorial Day crowds were heavy, but try this spot on an off-weekend for drinks with new friends you’ll never see again.

7. Delano Hotel, 1685 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-672-2000

Surrounded by chaise longues, freestanding linen umbrellas, and canopied daybeds, the pool at the iconic Delano is as posh as the decor. Take a stroll through the Alice in Wonderland-themed garden path to behold its 7,000 square feet of refreshing, clear cure for the summertime blues. Access to the pool is available with a cabana rental, but non-guests are better off attending Delano Beach Club after 7 p.m., when live entertainment heats up as the night cools down. And when hunger strikes, you can always grab a tasty bite at Bianca, the Delano’s indoor/outdoor restaurant which happens to be steps away from the pool.

8. Mondrian South Beach – 1100 West Ave., Miami Beach; 305-514-1500

The Mondrian does things differently, even when it comes to its pool. Named Miami’s best hotel by New Times, the modern yet whimsical hotel extends its eclectic and detail-oriented style outside to its pool area. It’s open to anyone on a first-come, first-served basis, but hotel guests get priority, and nonguests must spend at least $50 on food and drinks. For $500, you can get a day bed for up to six people, or fork over $800 for a cabana to accommodate more guests. DJs spin tunes poolside every Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m., so choose a special occasion, split the cost among friends, and take a daycation.

9. Shore Club Hotel – 1901 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-695-3100

One of the biggest dilemmas you’ll encounter at the Shore Club is deciding which of the two elevated-edge infinity pools to dive into first. Well, the answer is based on the type of person you are. If you’re more of a laid-back lounger, you’ll likely pick the pool that’s closest to the hotel. With lounge chairs and colorful, Moroccan-inspired beds, the vibe whispers relaxation. If you’re more adventuresome, chances are you’ll dip your toes into the pool that overlooks the beach. Feet away from the shore, you’ll spot banana boats and Jet Skis zooming across the horizon. Located between the pools and draped with sheer curtains is Rumbar, where you’ll get the best of both worlds. The pool is strictly for hotel guests only, so you’ll have to book a room (or get sneaky).

10. Highbar at Dream Hotel South Beach – 1111 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-673-4747

South Beach’s luxurious pools can seem out of reach for the average partygoer in Miami, but Highbar at Dream Hotel in South Beach offers the perfect staycation option for those who are “broke with expensive taste.” The infinity pool area, adorned in white retro decor with golden accents, stands 70 feet above the ocean, giving you a bird’s-eye view of the Atlantic. Highbar’s Naked Taco offers topnotch Mexican cuisine, and unlike most SoBe hotel pools, Highbar is open to the public and there’s no cover. It’s like getting the Cancun experience without having to pay for the getaway.

LIV Miami Closing for Renovations this Summer

One of South Beach’s most name-dropped nightclubs is closing for the summer. Why?

Because it’s hard being famous. Around every corner lurks a TMZ camera waiting to catch the stars at their worst, which explains why the plastic surgery biz is so booming even though people like Courteney Cox eventually wake up and realize how ridiculous they look and stop the insanity. And while mangling your face to look like a melted Barbie isn’t so hot, a refresher after 10 seasons isn’t such a bad idea. And that is why LIV, the celebrity of clubland, the celebrity magnet, is closing for the summer break equivalent of a boob job and butt lift.

OK, so the famous nightclub is really just getting a major makeover. And with 10 seasons in the business and many more to come, it’s time, says owner Dave Grutman.

“Even though LIV has no competition in the market, we care so much about the guest experience, we think it’s important to do this renovation and stay at the top of our game,” Grutman said. “Remember, we are not just a nightclub, we are the club that the world looks at as the standard.”

The last weekend at LIV is going to be July 4th weekend, with Kaskade on 7/1 and Kevin Hart on 7/2. When will Liv Miami reopen? Liv will debut its new look sometime after Labor Day in September.

The makeover will include new floors, bars and LED wall installations with a $10 million sticker price, according to the Miami New Times. Grutman has also commissioned a New York City design firm to create a huge remote-controlled light fixture, the New Times reports.
