Introducing the Apex Social Club at the Palms Las Vegas
“Why not have a few drinks on top of the world?” says Andy Masi of Clique Hospitality. His new Apex Social Club on the 55th floor of the Palms lets partiers do just that in a 4,500-square-foot boutique nightclub setting.
But before revelers even step foot in the nightclub with its views of the Las Vegas Strip from the west, they have to get up there, entering a corridor of black and midnight blue wall coverings before encountering an oversized custom metal screen and two exclusive elevators that head to Apex, designed by Alessandro Munge. The open-air social club features a 360-degree view of Las Vegas from the outdoor patio and terrace. A retractable glass floor-to-ceiling partition separates the club from the open sky.
The space features four pieces of art by Brooklyn-based artist Dustin Yellin dubbed Pyschogeographies. The nearly 3,000-pound humanoid sculptures feature a collage cut from magazines and books, laid down on glass, and fused together with resin to create 3D paintings. All are part of a larger collection of 120 sculptures that are typically displayed like that of the ancient Terracotta Soldiers.
Inside, the bar features bronze metal trim, midnight blue stone, and ombre glass. Aside from the astounding views, visitors can order VIP bottle service, all while looking down on the city.
EDC 2016 Las Vegas Event Calendar
Hundreds of thousands will again flock to Las Vegas for the return of Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), set for June 17-19, 2016.
Held for the fifth year at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, EDC is one of the largest events of its kind in the world featuring over 200 DJs, 500 theatrical performers, carnival rides, large-scale art installations, state-of-the-art lighting and sound production across seven stages, and fireworks at the close of each evening.
Surrounding the three-day festival is EDC Week, which includes a variety of club shows, pool parties, and the fifth annual EDMbiz conference for electronic music professionals.
In town for the festival, the DJs all end up playing extra shows at Vegas’s night and day clubs during the week.

Tryst Nightclub to Close for Renovations
Update – the old Tryst will reopen as Intrigue with the grand opening date slated for April 28, 2016.
After 10 years as one of Las Vegas’ must-see nightlife venues, Tryst Nightclub will close. Reports recently surfaced that Tryst staff were notified the venue will close following Halloween for a total remodel, hinting the remodel could take almost half a year.
While sudden, this news is not exactly shocking, as the property has already announced a string of changes this summer. In addition to changes with Wynn’s restaurants, managing partner Jesse Waits also departed Wynn in July for the coming Alon resort, set to open in 2018 on the former site of the New Frontier.
Tryst opened on New Year’s Eve 2005, replacing the short-lived La Bête nightclub in the same space. While details about Tryst’s own replacement are still hush hush, Michael Weaver, Wynn’s senior vice president of marketing and communications, has confirmed this news, and that a new concept is in the works.
An insider who has reportedly seen mock ups of the new venue calls it simply, “gorgeous.”

New Nightclub Confession Opens in Hollywood
Chris Breed (Cabana Club, Maui & Sons) is back in Hollywood, this time at the swanky new Confession, which officially opens on June 5 inside the Pig ‘N Whistle space behind the Egyptian theater.
Breed’s Sunset Entertainment Group takes over the historic interior, adding a few clubbier elements like a confession booth (actually a Twitter-ready photo booth), state-of-the-art sound system, and updated drink program by Frederic Vial. By day, the place remains Pig ‘N Whistle, but starting from 9 p.m. on Monday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, transforms to Confession.
With a cathedral-like interior of hand-carved woodwork, the juxtaposition between late night revelry and the place’s “holier” elements probably won’t be ironic to anyone hanging out at the tables (don’t worry, no religious icons anywhere).
