The giant Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino is every bit as luxurious as the other resorts on this list, but it’s one of the oldest resorts on the Strip and thus no longer exudes that “exclusive” feel as do many of the others. 5) Aria – Aria Pool – $$$ – Center Strip

A glittering center-strip jewel rising from the desert floor, Aria – set against the backdrop of the shiny, new CityCenter complex – is one of the largest hotels on Planet Earth. The Delano brand epitomized level-headed white-hued South Beach style and splendor for nearly a decade before making its way to Las Vegas. This trademark look has been uprooted from beach to desert and painstakingly replicated in its all its magnificent details. The pool deck decor is reminiscent of its internationally renowned Miami predecessor in that cool white persists as the dominant furniture color; white accents the handful of hammocks spread throughout, as well as the cabanas (which come with standard luxe amenities like pool toys, waiter service, and TVs) and the oversized in-water chess set sculpture. Another come-one-come-all destination, MGM’s Grand Pool Complex throws out 6.5 acres of (mostly) family fun featuring four refreshing swimming pools, three whirlpools, cascading waterfalls and top-notch amenities. Kids of all ages can grab a tube and float down perhaps the most well-traversed lazy river in Nevada, stretch out on a comfy daybed, enjoy a variety of food and drink options, or find relaxing bliss with a poolside massage. Feeling more like a grown-up today? Perched on the 55th floor of the Palms Casino & Resort for over a decade was the iconic GhostBar; in early 2018 the space was expanded, renovated, and rebranded as the upscale boutique nightclub and rooftop bar APEX Social Club. With top-of-the-line modern and ultra-chic decor along with top-notch views from the top of Sin City, the new venue is quite aptly named. Mind-blowing IG-worthy 360-degree panoramic views from the outdoor skydeck of APEX Social recreate the exhilarating feeling of being on top of the world. The venue is only open from Thursday through Sunday evening, but it’s certainly worth the slight detour from Las Vegas Boulevard if you’re in the skyline sightseeing – and late-night partying – mood.

6. 107 SkyLounge @ Stratosphere Hotel – $$ – North Strip

Being 107 stories above the Vegas strip in the Stratosphere Tower gives this ultra-lounge its name; while it lacks a unique moniker, 107 SkyLounge makes up for that with the most unique skyline view of the city. It’s the highest point on the north end of the Strip facing properties south, so it offers scenery only matched by the high-rise private residential towers in that area. Their drinks are incomparable as well: high-end martinis and more adventurous spirits expertly crafted from award-winning bartenders. 107 does have DJ formats and turn into a quite lively scene on the weekend evenings, but if a high-volume party isn’t your forte it’s still got plenty of quieter nooks and crannies to enjoy the evening and the views in the company of a special date.

Mouth-watering bar food? Check. (World-class buffalo wings, “Big Arse” Burgers, flatbread pizzas, loaded tater tots… the list goes on.) Turnt up parties on big occasions like St Patrick’s Day, Halloween, and NFL Playoffs / Super Bowl? Check.

Now a regional chain with franchises across Southern California, “The Kilt” as Vegas locals affectionally call it originally launched at the Rio Hotel & Casino in 2003 before moving to its current 9,000 square-foot two-story location at the LINQ Promenade in 2014. Everything about the venue screams “Touristy!” and yes, they purposely cater to the thousands of out-of-towners they see daily. However, you’d also be shocked at just how many locals are seated at Tilted Kilt’s bar on any given night, many of whom are hard-working salt-of-the-earth service industry professionals coming from or headed to another work shift on the Strip. This is what makes TKLV a truly special place: out of all the aforementioned boxes it already checks, it also checks the “friendly neighborhood bar” box where visitors and locals mingle, interact, root on their teams, and share light-hearted banter and stories over cold suds and strong spirits. Yes, Vegas has a handful of these all-around superstar bars spread out around town, just not any right on the Strip like this one. Born and raised in Sin City, The Kilt is a very much a Wolf of a local bar dressed in tourist Sheep’s clothing… and as their company tagline goes, “A cold beer never looked so good.”

2. The Chandelier @ Cosmopolitan – $$$$ – Center Strip

A popular hotel choice and rendezvous point for the beautiful twentysomethings and thirtysomethings of the world since the day it opened, The Cosmopolitan continues to stand out from all other high-end resorts on the Strip by maintaining its modern style and sophistication while consistently adding new attractions. To complement the hundreds of entertainment dates scheduled at the arena annually – and also to draw tourists to the area on the few nights the arena is dark – the stadium grounds are bordered by The Park Vegas, an open-air cobblestone footpath lined with casual restaurants and bars that are perfect for T-Mobile pre-partying… and post-partying, since Vegas never sleeps duh.

It’s all country music all the time at Gilley’s Saloon, but that singular focus doesn’t stop this wild watering hole from being one of the best live music venues in Las Vegas of any musical genre. 5. Brooklyn Bowl @ the LINQ Promenade – $$ – Center Strip

Located on the LINQ Promenade just steps away from the High Roller Ferris wheel, Brooklyn Bowl is an ultra-hip upscale bowling alley, a well-loved restaurant by Vegas locals (their Blue Ribbon fried chicken is some of the best in the city), and a concert venue showcasing heavyweight names in reggae, alt-rock, and other lightweight music genres that have rabid followings. But its expansive bar area at the front of the spacious venue also shines as one of the best and most underrated drink stops in Vegas.

The craft beer selection showcases the best of East Coast and West Coast microbrews and rotates frequently, and perhaps even better than the beer is their bar food menu which offers high-end creative takes on the classics. Insiders tip: if you’ve got concert tickets, we highly recommend you come for Happy Hour (Mon-Fri, 5-7pm) and then stay for the concert afterward to avoid long waits in line. 6. Mandarin Bar @ Mandarin Oriental – $$$$ – Center Strip

Vegas locals affectionately call this spot the “Corner Bar” for its location tucked away on the 23rd floor of the Mandarin Oriental, but moreso as a clever tongue-in-cheek nickname evoking a shoddy dive when it’s actually one of the fanciest and prettiest environments for a cocktail in all of Vegas. The richly decorated space is always quiet enough for one-on-one conversations, whether you’re celebrating a romantic milestone occasion with your significant other or a local looking to entertain an important out-of-town business client in a memorable way. It’s not about any crowd at Mandarin Bar, it’s really all about the views: through floor-to-ceiling glass, stunning skyline scenery in all directions enchants visitors and entices them to indulge in the high life.

7. PBR Rock Bar @ Planet Hollywood – $$ – Center Strip

Deep in the heart of Tex… – ahem, Vegas – is another rodeo-themed gem of a drinking post. Located on the highly trafficked Strip side of Planet Hollywood’s famed Miracle Mile Shops, PBR Rock Bar & Grill is a Professional Bull Riders affiliated mega-venue that truly epitomizes the phrase “a little bit country, a little bit rock ‘n’ roll.” Rock Bar is a sprawling, modern, 16,800 square-foot backyard barbecue featuring two DJ booths, hundreds of big screen TVs lining the bar, and a massive hydraulic mechanical bull at its center, mounted and ridden in constant rotation by buxom staff and ballsy tourists.

The kitchen staff at PBR puts in big work with big plates and big flavors that truly capture the taste of the American Heartland: Chicken & Waffles, Smoked Brisket, BBQ Pork Ribs, and even secret recipes such as the famed Dorito Mac & Cheese. But as good as the food is here, it decidedly takes a backseat to the dranks. Rock Bar’s most memorable feature is its expansive outdoor drinking patio – cooling mist in the summer, heat lamps in the winter – that spills out onto the most coveted and most highly traversed real estate on Las Vegas Boulevard. The patio is packed nearly all times of the year and at all times of the day, the steady reservations traffic endlessly bolstered by walk-ups seeking to take advantage of PBR’s awesome drink specials to quench their thirst at its specialty frozen drink bar or its three other full-service bars. Locals normally shy away from Rock Bar as this is a true tourist trap, but that doesn’t make it any less fun a time for the visitors who dismount from their saddles and mosey on in. Cowboy Up!

8. Beer Park @ Paris – $$ – Center Strip

So much for creative naming. Beer Park is designed with the goal of giving tourists a no-frills slice of Americana, but with all the frills of Vegas, baby, Vegas. The open-air entertainment venue, of which American mega-brand Anheuser-Busch is a strategic investor, puts forth a nostalgia-inducing atmosphere that mixes the feel of a classic baseball stadium with the communal charm of a suburbia park with all of the glorious food and drink favorites each has to offer. Similar to the Vegas Strip itself, this brand-new space was designed to bring people from all over the world together.

Inside Beer Park there is a 10,000-square-foot upscale “living room” foyer with parlor-style furniture seating arranged in circles to encourage meeting new people; outside there are Oktoberfest-style communal picnic tables for communal drinking and a grassy lawn to challenge strangers in friendly classic bar games like giant Jenga, Skee-Ball, Pop-A-Shot, darts, and billiards. But on top of all of these perks, Beer Park totally understands – and focuses on – sports as the great global unifier: it is one of just a few spots in Las Vegas to offer onsite wagering outside of a sportsbook, and gargantuan towers on each side of the main bar display multiple high-definition televisions that are ideal for watching the biggest sports matches of the day whether you’re a longtime die-hard or a new “fan” holding a $20 wager in hand.

9. Nine Fine Irishmen @ MGM Grand – $ – South Strip

One of the city’s best Irish pubs, Nine Fine Irishmen was designed and built by Ireland’s top craftsmen and shipped piece by piece to Las Vegas. 9Fine brings the charms of the Emerald Isle to Las Vegas in other ways as well: food, spirits, camaraderie, and of course music. Your favorite Irish dishes – the ones you wolf down only on St. Patrick’s Day – are on the lunch and dinner menu perennially; an impressive variety of Irish beers and drinks will allow you expand your horizons past Guinness and Jameson. Happy Hour runs from Monday-Friday from 2-5 pm; While the restaurant closes at 11pm, the bar stays open until 3am (which makes it the most convenient pre-game / rendezvous point for groups headed to nearby Hakkasan Nightclub).

Once the alcohol starts flowing at Nine Fine Irishmen, the live music entertainment takes the stage to keep the crowd’s toes tapping. In particular, the energy reaches crescendo levels in the evening around 9:30-10pm, when the house band bangs out a mix of traditional Irish music, wild electric jigs and reels, and classic sing-along songs. Granted, the atmosphere here can get a bit rowdy and dodgy, especially during big soccer matches when 9Fine takes on the feel and atomsphere of an edgy Euro-style sports pub. That being said, getting tipsy and creating your own live performances by singing amateur karaoke at the top of your lungs is strongly encouraged here. For that reason, it’s impossible to leave Nine Fine Irishmen off any list of great Vegas bars. Erin Go Bragh!

Its current Planet Hollywood proprietors – backed by the same team of rich and famous LA investors including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Demi Moore, and Whoopi Goldberg that helped replace Aladdin with the PH resort over a decade ago – modernized the theater’s appearance and amenities, which in turn has attracted bigger-name music artists and higher-spending customers.

One-third the size of T-Mobile Arena, the 7,000-seat Zappos offers concertgoers VIP tables with bottle service (including a free bottle of Moet Champagne), flatscreen TVs displaying multiple stage angles, top-of-the-line acoustics that crank out professional-grade vocal and background sound, and even a post-show artist meet-and-greet (for an additional cost, of course). Past resident performers at Zappos include Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, and Def Leppard. One of the city’s best Irish pubs, Nine Fine Irishmen was designed and built by Ireland’s top craftsmen and shipped piece by piece to Las Vegas. 9Fine brings the charms of the Emerald Isle to Las Vegas in other ways as well: food, spirits, camaraderie, and of course music. Your favorite Irish dishes – the ones you wolf down only on St. Patrick’s Day – are on the lunch and dinner menu perennially; an impressive variety of Irish beers and drinks will allow you expand your horizons past Guinness and Jameson. The luxury beachside destination features in-water loungers, Jacuzzis, inflatables and spans across an impressive site on the Pearl Jumeirah that leads out onto the beach. There’s a new rotation of weekly day and evening events including live music from local band Cubache on a Monday from 2pm, and ladies’ day every Wednesday. Again not found by the beach, but this sleek new party spot is equally worthy of a shoutout. Like it’s neighbouring Drai’s, Soho Beach opens for its ladies’ day on a Tuesday, as well as on Fridays and Saturdays for two poolside brunches. Keep your eye on social media with this place, Soho Beach transforms into a huge events space for festivals several times a year – and they’re some of the city’s most unmissable parties.

Azure Beach Dubai

The only way that you could beat this beach club’s view of the Burj Al Arab is if you hopped on a boat. The Jumeirah Al Naseem spot is quite literally under the shadow of the Burj, but don’t worry, it’ won’t stop your tan game. The luxury club has a white sand beach, infinity pool and music that’s just loud enough to add atmosphere. Go in the morning if you want to read a book, or head there in the afternoon if you’re after a livelier vibe. The food is a Mediterranean mix with a heavy Italian influence, and it’s only steps away from your lounger if you’re wanting to tuck in midway through your tanning session.

Catching rays in our designer bikinis, sippin’ juicy umbrella drinks, and chillin’ by the pool. This is one case where the stereotype is true: Miami knows how to have fun in the sun.

A lot of it has to do with that whole carefree vibe you get from living in Miami, but the reason we’re always walking around half-naked and tan is because

of all the kick-ass pool parties we’re able to crash — especially in South Beach. Yes, it’s a bit of a tourist trap, but every Miamian has a soft spot for South Beach even if they won’t admit it.

So next time you feel like crossing the bridge and getting wet, keep in mind these ten best pool party spots on SoBe. Now go get your splash on.

1. The Standard Spa – 40 Island Ave., Miami Beach; 305-673-1717

The beach is one of Miami’s greatest treasures, but every trip there ends with grains of sand stuck in places we didn’t even know existed. At the Standard’s pool, though, relaxing on one of the many lounge chairs or on the makeshift beach — sans sand, of course — is like spending a day on South Beach. That’s because the infinity pool, equipped with an underwater sound system, is so close to the water that if you stand at just the right angle, it seems to disappear into the bay. Being that the Standard is a spa within itself, you know there’s bound to be lots of pampering, like the Arctic Plunge, a 50-degree minipool that claims to “increase your heart rate and kickstart your circulation.” If sitting in an ice box for the recommended minute isn’t your thing, the Roman waterfall hot tub will warm your insides with eight feet of 103-degree water to “alleviate pain and detoxify” the body. With a waterfront wooden deck, the Standard also offers paddleboarding lessons. All of this fun comes with a pretty hefty price tag — $75 for a day pass Monday through Thursday and $150 Friday through Sunday and holidays or the equivalent in spa spending — but at least you won’t have sand glued to your body for days.

2. The Freehand Miami – 2727 Indian Creek Dr., Miami Beach; 305-531-2727

The Freehand Miami gained popularity thanks to Gabriel Orta and the rest of the mixologists at the Broken Shaker, but Miami Beach’s first upscale hostel has also made a name for itself with its intimate pool parties. With a Ping-Pong table, colorful decor, tasty cocktails, and themed splash bashes that present some of the best underground DJs in the 305, the Freehand is a welcome escape from reality. The party continues ’round the clock at this millennial tourist hub, but the monthly Full Moon Night Swims are particularly special and provide a rare opportunity for visitors to mix with the locals. During the monthly events, Miami-based artisans showcase their creations beneath the glow of lanterns and a breathtaking full moon.

3. 1 Hotel South Beach Rooftop – 2341 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-604-1000

There’s no more beautiful view than a Miami sunset, and a rooftop view is even better. The 1 Hotel South Beach Rooftop pool makes it easy to take in the orange, lilac, and pink afterglow of a hot Miami day. Take a dip at dusk for a refreshing respite from the humidity and stress of rush-hour traffic. The rooftop pool is open to nonguests after 6 p.m., DJs begin spinning as early as 3 p.m. Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. After a long day at work and a stressful commute, you’ll fall in love with the city you call home when you view it from poolside heaven.

4. Hyde Beach at the SLS Hotel – 1701 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-674-1701

A ten-foot, 700-pound rubber ducky is not something you would expect to find at a swanky boutique hotel. At Hyde Beach at the SLS Hotel, however, a giant silver statue of a rubber ducky sits on the east end of the hotel guest pool, right before the garden and beach pool. Designer Philippe Stark imagined both swimming pools to resemble a bath tub, hence the ducky. In other words, he wanted to make all of your childhood fantasies come true. Pool access for nonguests depends upon availability Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the entrance fee is at the doorman’s discretion.

5. Raleigh Hotel – 1775 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-534-6300

The wow factor at the Raleigh is its 1940s-era crest-shaped swimming pool. Named one of 12 over-the-top Pools by Forbes, the two-tiered pool with a vintage diving board has made the Raleigh the highlight of Chanel fashion shows, the cover of magazine spreads, and the talk of some of the hottest pool parties around town. Lined with lounge chairs, curtain-covered canopies, and striped umbrellas, the pool prioritizes hotel guests, but passes are available for nonguests while space allows. Passes cost $30 Monday through Thursday and $60 Friday through Sunday. A poolside chair, towels, and Wi-Fi access are included, along with DJs playing from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

6. Clevelander South Beach Hotel & Bar – 1020 Ocean Dr., Miami Beach; 305-532-4006

You’ve driven by the Clevelander when showing visitors around town, but maybe you thought you were too cool to hit up a South Beach tourist staple. Admit it: Bouncing beach balls in the pool and playing tourist for the day looks pretty fun. The folks at the Clevelander want you to play with the out-of-towners; their pool is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. Memorial Day crowds were heavy, but try this spot on an off-weekend for drinks with new friends you’ll never see again.

7. Delano Hotel, 1685 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-672-2000

Surrounded by chaise longues, freestanding linen umbrellas, and canopied daybeds, the pool at the iconic Delano is as posh as the decor. Take a stroll through the Alice in Wonderland-themed garden path to behold its 7,000 square feet of refreshing, clear cure for the summertime blues. Access to the pool is available with a cabana rental, but non-guests are better off attending Delano Beach Club after 7 p.m., when live entertainment heats up as the night cools down. And when hunger strikes, you can always grab a tasty bite at Bianca, the Delano’s indoor/outdoor restaurant which happens to be steps away from the pool.

8. Mondrian South Beach – 1100 West Ave., Miami Beach; 305-514-1500

The Mondrian does things differently, even when it comes to its pool. Named Miami’s best hotel by New Times, the modern yet whimsical hotel extends its eclectic and detail-oriented style outside to its pool area. It’s open to anyone on a first-come, first-served basis, but hotel guests get priority, and nonguests must spend at least $50 on food and drinks. For $500, you can get a day bed for up to six people, or fork over $800 for a cabana to accommodate more guests. DJs spin tunes poolside every Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m., so choose a special occasion, split the cost among friends, and take a daycation.

9. Shore Club Hotel – 1901 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-695-3100

One of the biggest dilemmas you’ll encounter at the Shore Club is deciding which of the two elevated-edge infinity pools to dive into first. Well, the answer is based on the type of person you are. If you’re more of a laid-back lounger, you’ll likely pick the pool that’s closest to the hotel. With lounge chairs and colorful, Moroccan-inspired beds, the vibe whispers relaxation. If you’re more adventuresome, chances are you’ll dip your toes into the pool that overlooks the beach. Feet away from the shore, you’ll spot banana boats and Jet Skis zooming across the horizon. Located between the pools and draped with sheer curtains is Rumbar, where you’ll get the best of both worlds. The pool is strictly for hotel guests only, so you’ll have to book a room (or get sneaky).

10. Highbar at Dream Hotel South Beach – 1111 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-673-4747

South Beach’s luxurious pools can seem out of reach for the average partygoer in Miami, but Highbar at Dream Hotel in South Beach offers the perfect staycation option for those who are “broke with expensive taste.” The infinity pool area, adorned in white retro decor with golden accents, stands 70 feet above the ocean, giving you a bird’s-eye view of the Atlantic. Highbar’s Naked Taco offers topnotch Mexican cuisine, and unlike most SoBe hotel pools, Highbar is open to the public and there’s no cover. It’s like getting the Cancun experience without having to pay for the getaway.
