Best ZEDD Songs of All Time – Top 5 Tracks

Anton Zaslavski (born September 2, 1989), known professionally as Zedd, is a Russian-German DJ, record producer, singer and songwriter. He primarily produces and performs electro house music, but has diversified his genre and musical style, drawing influences from progressive house, dubstep, and classical music.

Zedd grew up and began his music career in Kaiserslautern, Germany. His stage name, Zedd, was derived from zed, the Non-American English name for the letter Z, the first letter of his surname. In 2012, he released “Clarity” (featuring Foxes), which propelled him to mainstream success, reaching the 8th position on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning him a Grammy for Best Dance Recording at the 56th Grammy Awards. Later in 2012, he released his debut studio album Clarity, with hit single “Stay the Night” (featuring Hayley Williams) appearing on the 2013 deluxe edition of the album.

In 2015, his second studio album True Colors was released, supported by its lead single “I Want You to Know” featuring Selena Gomez. Subsequent well-known songs include “Stay” with Alessia Cara, peaking at number 7, “The Middle” with Maren Morris and Grey, and, as a featured artist, “Break Free” with Ariana Grande, peaking at number 4 in the US.

Zedd has had a longstanding residency in Las Vegas with Hakkasan Group – where he plays shows at Omnia Las Vegas, Hakkasan and Wet Republic.

Tour Zedd’s $16 Million Beverly Hills Mansion

It was the simple matter of space that led chart-topping, Grammy-winning music producer and songwriter Anton Zaslavski—better known as Zedd—to his current home high on Benedict Canyon Drive in Beverly Hills. There, just about every bit of his contemporary 9,400-square-foot house—“modern and slick but really warm,” he says—is in use. He’d quickly grown out of his first home due to a smattering of global friends always crashing—plus he needed a music studio.

“I saw an ad for this house, which was way too expensive, but I asked if I could look at it for inspiration—like, if I wanted to build my own house. I drove down the gate of the house and my brain went immediately to: This is something Steve Jobs would have enjoyed,” says Zaslavski. “I walked in here and it was so perfect.” Fast forward ten subsequent visits and an entire year later: He ended up buying the new modern estate complete with a rooftop deck, pool, and jacuzzi. Still, “when you buy something of this size you question every little thing,” says Zaslavski. “But this is really as close to perfect a house for me as I can get.” The separate four-car garage is in the process of being transformed into a full music studio for his work. He also has enough space on his 3.2-acre lot to later add another 7,000 square feet of house or studio, or maybe a bowling alley, which he calls “a dream. The goal is to never have to leave,” he laughs. “There’s three food trucks outside Monday through Friday—that’s a good step.”
When you buy something of this size you question every little thing,” says Zaslavski. “But this is really as close to perfect a house for me as I can get.

Inside, he’s created his own expansive Eden. “I follow a bunch of architecture sites I get inspiration from, and I’ve always been into really modern, slick, sharp corners,” he says. He also finds Instagram and his travels influential for getting ideas for the specific placement of objects. Many of the pieces of furniture came from his previous home, and he bought some of the pieces from the staging company. His art collection, however, had to be rethought to fit the much larger scale. “Symmetry is probably the most important thing to me,” says Zaslavski, who also values warmth in a home. “I have friends who have ultramodern homes and the only thing you can imagine is having a party there. You can’t imagine just laying on the couch.”

Bringing the outdoors in was also key for Zaslavski—so the fact the home has a water feature and an atrium with an olive tree inside was a major selling point. Massively high wooden ceilings and floor-to-ceiling glass also open everything up to the panoramic canyon views he adores. “All those things make it feel really homey to me.”

Having just moved in last fall, the home is still a work in progress. Perhaps the main reason for this is that Zaslavski, surprisingly, doesn’t use an interior designer. “I have really specific taste and I’m okay with it taking a while and therefore being more personal and stuff I actually like,” he explains. His art is also acquired naturally—even through Instagram—from his creative friends. At his old house, “every piece of art was from somebody I know, nothing was random, so I’m trying to keep that.” Still, there are about 20 more pieces in storage that he hasn’t decided on placement for. Despite his mass collection, “the value is whatever it’s worth to me—I just want to look at art and be happy, so I’m not an art collector in the traditional sense.”

A pantry full of liquor and a Red Bull fridge seems conducive to epic parties but, according to Zaslavski, he actually doesn’t have ragers. A housewarming for 40 to 50 people is about as large as it gets, as Zaslavski really values his privacy. Instead, he opts to open his zen home to friends for poker nights and pool parties. In fact, he’s only spent about two days alone in the expansive house. And contrary to the assumption that a musician would be blaring music through an impressive sound system from noon to night, he doesn’t actually play anything throughout his home on a regular basis. “Because I work on so much music,” explains Zaslavski, “I think silence is the most enjoyable part.” Instead, it’s his art that really touches him: “Colors and motions and shapes are totally my things.”

Diplo Basel Edition @ LIV

Diplo Basel Edition @ LIV

On Monday evening this week, Diplo, the musician and producer, stood on the back terrace overlooking Biscayne Bay with Jeremy Scott, the noted fashion designer. Long candlelit white tables had been set for dinner. “I just bought a bunch of land in Jamaica, and I’m going to turn it into a creative commune,” he said.  Diplo hit the art fair early Tuesday morning to browse pieces for his estate, despite a 2 a.m. D.J. gig in a parking lot in downtown Miami with his pal Virgil Abloh, the designer of the fashion brand Off-White.  On Thursday night, the 2017 Wynn Las Vegas resident DJ headlines South Beach’s most well-known and longest-running upscale nightclub, which figures to be one the hardest-to-score nightlife tickets of the entire Art Basel weekend.  All in a week’s work for one of electronic dance music’s brightest stars.

Venue: LIV @ the Fontainbleau Hotel (4441 Collins Ave, Miami, FL 33141)

Desert Hearts Art Basel Edition @ Trade Miami

Desert Hearts Art Basel Edition @ Trade

Contemporary art trends may go out of style quickly, but House, Techno, & Love most certainly do not. The Desert Hearts City Hearts Tour has timed its Miami tour stop with Art Basel weekend, and their event at no-frills locals’ favorite Trade – co-hosted by locals’ favorite promoters Link Miami Rebels – will serve as a showcase for their newer music coming out on Desert Hearts Records in 2018. With momentum still riding from their summer Desert Hearts Festival and November City Hearts Festival in Los Angeles, this crew is pouring everything into their record label to take their love vibe to the far reaches of the world. Their launch into the far reaches of the galaxy begins Friday in Miami, and where better to make some memorable magic than in Magic City itself?

Time: 11:00 PM – 4:00AM

Venue: Trade Miami (1439 Washington Ave, Miami, FL 33139)

Zedd Basel Edition @ Story

Zedd @ Story

Zedd, the DJ/producer who landed on this month’s December 2017 cover of Forbes Magazine, has a backstory that many contemporary art fans and Art Basel attendees can appreciate.   To distinguish himself from competing DJs with similar sounds, he created a graphics-heavy live show that feels like watching a video game projected onto a movie screen, with a custom visual for each song.   A cable runs from his computer to the front of the house, where a team of technicians makes sure everything synchs up, including the program’s lasers and pyrotechnics.  Early on he became known as the anti-DJ of the DJ universe, which ironically (hey, artists love that irony!) led him to surging popularity, longstanding Vegas residencies, mainstream radio success, and collaborations with megastars such as Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, and Alessia Cara.

Time: 11:00 PM – 4:00 AM

Venue: Story (136 Collins Ave, Miami, FL 33139)

Art Basel Showcase @ Do Not Sit on the Furniture

The Playroom crew from NYC descends upon Miami to host a special Art Basel event featuring Behrouz and friends.  Playroom serves as a liaison between many artists & DJs, club/ venue owners, event and festival producers, and a niche crowd of sophisticated house and tech house music enthusiasts.  Its focus is on cutting edge music, the quality people that comprise the magnetic community associated with it, and the positive vibe that it creates.  Behrouz’s Art Basel sets have become legendary over the years, and this industry insiders’ party is sure to be a fabulous networking event as well as a colorful foray into the emotional and artistic journey of electronic sound.

Time: 10:00 PM – 5:00 AM

Venue: Do Not Sit On The Furniture (423 16th Street, Miami, FL 33139)

H.Wood Group Pop-Up f/ 50-Cent @ Ora

50 Cent @ Ora

Famed Los Angeles promotions team H.Wood Group puts together a “modest” Art Basel pop-up event featuring a not-so-modest headlining act: super-duper-megastar 50 Cent.  “Fitty” will be supported on the turntables by DJ Fred Matters from the H.Wood team’s Hollywood karaoke hotspot Blind Dragon.   Probably not on the guest list for tonight’s festivities: Wendy Williams.

Time: 11:00 PM – 5:00 AM

Venue: Ora (2000 Collins Av, Miami, FL 33139)

Sunday, December 10th, 2017

Corona Electric Beach f/ Duke Dumont @ Hyde Beach

Duke Dumont @ Hyde Beach

Corona Electric Beach is a popular traveling “fun in the sun” experience featuring world-renowned DJs, and for Art Basel weekend on South Beach it will feature electronic artist Duke Dumont, who has played one of the most pivotal roles in making UK deep house the thundering global juggernaut it is today.  The British superstar will not be the only draw for SLS Hotel’s famous Sunday party, as Bisco Smith will be hosting and presenting a unique live art installation.  Bisco is a contemporary visual artist from Queens, New York with roots in music, graffiti, and street art.   Bisco works in a variety of formats, including canvas and large outdoor murals, and is known for his “visual freestyle”—characterized as a blend of graffiti deconstruction, gestural abstraction, and lyric-based stylewriting. Made predominantly with a black and white color palette, his art visually captures the rhythms of music and the energy of the moment through its spontaneous marks and abstracted text.

Time: 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Venue: Hyde Beach @ The SLS Hotel (1701 Collins Ave, Miami, FL 33139)

Markus Schulz @ Heart

Markus Schulz @ Heart

Art Basel weekend closes out with a global trance music legend putting on a thunderous spectacle in his own hometown.   Miami Heat superfan Markus Schulz – known for his marathon 10-12 hour DJ sets – waves goodbye to the visiting artists and creatives and hands the city back to the home team with a pulsating DJ set that surely will not end until after the sun comes up.  In true Basel fashion, expect to see an artist tinkering with works in progress while still producing high-level performance pieces, as Mr. Schulz gets some warm-up reps in advance of his forthcoming New Year’s Eve open-to-close extravaganza at the renowned Avalon nightclub in Los Angeles.

Time: 11:00 PM – ???

Venue: Heart (50 NE 11th St, Miami, FL 33132)

Zedd Announces Omnia / Hakkasan Residency in 2017

Known globally for collaborations with Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber, superstar DJ Zedd  has been signed by Hakkasan Group for a Las Vegas residency and is making his debut Saturday, 1/7/2017 at OMNIA Nightclub inside Caesars Palace.

The only stage on Zedd’s mind today is the magical center of the light cathedral that is Omnia, the crown jewel of Hakkasan Group’s Las Vegas empire. Zedd is the new resident DJ at all Hakkasan properties, and tickets are available online, with shows at all Hakkasan Group’s Vegas properties including Jewel at Aria, Hakkasan Nightclub, and Wet Republic at MGM Grand, but Omnia is the real powerhouse. When it first opened, before Zedd had any inkling of a forthcoming deal, he knew it was the kind of place he wanted to play.

“I was really blown away by the production,” Zedd says. “Everything was super clean and slick, and for somebody who puts a lot of emphasis on the visual aspect of a show, obviously seeing all the elements that were at Omnia was inspiring.

Zedd’s no stranger to Vegas. He calls it his second home because he spends as much time in that desert oasis as he does anywhere else. Whether he’s couped up in a cube at the Staples Center or standing victorious in front of sold-out crowds for his own tour, Zedd takes his role as an entertainer quite seriously. Vegas is and always has been an entertainment mecca. As far back as the days of the Rat Pack and Elvis Presley, it’s been a playground for adults looking to escape the mundane. Zedd is a worthy heir to that long line of showstoppers, and armed with Omnia’s shape-shifting chandelier, he’s got more than a few tricks up his sleeve.

“I forgot what magician it was, but somebody in Vegas said the DJs took their business away, which is really crazy to think about,” Zedd says. “Maybe it is kind of magic. I do agree.”

In 2016 Zedd was a resident DJ at Wynn properties, frequently on the decks at Encore Beach Club and XS nightclub.

Announced show dates in Vegas:

  • 1/7/17 – Zedd at Omnia Las Vegas
  • 1/21/17 – Zedd at Omnia Las Vegas
  • 2/8/17 – Zedd at Hakkasan
  • 3/14/17 – Zedd at Omnia Las Vegas
  • 4/1/17 – Zedd at Omnia Las Vegas
  • 4/29/17 – Zedd at Omnia Las Vegas
  • 5/13/17 – Zedd at Omnia Las Vegas
  • 6/13/17 – Zedd at Omnia Las Vegas

These are just the dates announced for Omnia –  check back later for show dates at Hakkasan, Jewel and Wet Republic.

Zedd started with music in his daily routine from early childhood on. Born Anton Zaslavski, Zedd was raised in Kaiserslautern, Germany by two classically trained musicians, he began playing the piano at the age of four and built up his knowledge of the Classical repertoire throughout his childhood, at times writing a song a day. At age twelve, Anton learned to play the drums and, soon after he began performing with the post-hardcore/metal trio Dioramic. As a preteen he was already composing and producing numerous rock songs in his band’s own studio. As the aughts progressed, Anton’s awareness of other genres widened, and in 2009 his interest in producing electronic music was piqued after hearing the French electronic duo Justice. With his gift for musicality and background in instrumentation, composition and production, the move into the realm of electronic dance music was seamless.

2009 proved to be a watershed year for Zedd. It was during this year that he began producing electronic music, and within an incredibly short period of time amassed widespread critical and audience acclaim. Within a few months of beginning his production work, Zedd won two Beatport remix contests, the “Armand Van Helden / Strictly Rhythm Remix Contest” and the “Fatboy Slim / Skint Remix Contest”. These critical wins gave the budding artists the notoriety and clout to catch the interest of Skrillex who essentially found him on the net and signed him to his new OWSLA label. He caught the ear of Interscope A&R Dave Rene and Interscope Geffen A&M Chairman Jimmy Iovine and successfully released several official remixes for powerhouse artists such as Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, P. Diddy, Swedish House Mafia and Skrillex on labels including mau5trap, Interscope, and EMI.

In the realm of his original compositions, Zedd’s hit singles ‘Shave It’ and ‘Slam The Door’ (out through OWLSA) both held the top spot on Beatport’s charts for multiple weeks at a time. In the same year, his remix of Lady Gaga’s “Marry the Night” appeared on the deluxe edition of the superstar’s latest album Born This Way and his remix of “Born This Way” appeared on Born This Way: The Remix. In addition to his own compositions and reworkings of others’ songs, Zedd has had other electro heavyweights take their turn at his tracks, including Armin Van Buuren, Kaskade, Knife Party and more.

Zedd’s stellar development is undoubtedly linked to his unique and highly recognizable style of composition. It stands out in a crowded field as meticulously detailed and carefully produced, very playful and at the same time remarkably catchy despite the complex musicality drafting it up. Drawing from his diverse musical background spanning from classical to post-hardcore/metal to electro house Zedd’s music not only draws from uncommon sources but also has the ability to appeal to an audience outside the realm EDM.

Zedd signed with Interscope records in 2012 and released his debut LP Clarity in October to much critical acclaim. The album’s first single, “Spectrum,” featuring singer/songwriter Matthew Koma, garnered massive global attention climbing into the the Top 10 on the iTunes dance chart and holding on to the #1 spot on Beatport Worldwide for almost three weeks. The track then soared to #1 on the Billboard Dance Club Song chart and was ultimately named their Dance Club Song of the year as well as iTunes “Breakthrough Album of the Year (Dance) for 2012.

Kesha Kicks off Mini Residency at Intrigue Nightclub in Vegas

#FreeKesha supporters will soon get to see Kesha back on stage.

Kesha is set to headline three nights at the Wynn Las Vegas’s Intrigue nightclub, where she will perform a collection of her greatest hits.

Tickets for the June 23, June 25 and July 23 concerts can be purchased here.

Kesha was last in Las Vegas for the Billboard Music Awards in May, where she earned a standing ovation for her moving tribute to Bob Dylan.

The ‘We R Who We R’ singer has only performed live sporadically over the last year, as she’s battled her former producer Dr Luke and Sony Music to be freed from her recording contract.

Earlier this year, Sony and Dr Luke allowed Kesha’s collaboration with Zedd on ‘True Colors’ to be released as a single.

However, the legal battle continues with a face-to-face deposition set for this month.
