Kaos Nightclub & Dayclub CLOSED Indefinitely

Kaos Nightclub and Dayclub is officially closing, according to a report from the Las Vegas Review Journal.

On Tuesday, Red Rock reported a net loss of $26.8 million in the third quarter, down $51.9 million from the same period last year. In a statement, they said:

“This afternoon, Red Rock Resorts, Inc. announced the closing of KAOS dayclub and nightclub at the Palms Casino Resort, effective immediately. While Palms has experienced exceptional growth across both the gaming and non-gaming segments of the business, the expense side of the business has been challenging to date, due in large part to the entertainment and fixed cost structure associated with KAOS. Therefore, we have decided to take some time to reassess the programming and use of those venues going forward. In the interim, we intend to use the venues for private meeting space and special events, in addition to everyday resort pool operations.”

The nightclub opened with major residencies from acts like Skrillex and Marshmello earlier this year. It was reported that Marshmello, Skrillex, and many of the other residents exited the nightclub in September.

Kaos Nightclub opened its doors earlier this year with one of the most stacked residency lineups in Las Vegas, including Marshmello‘s record-breaking $60 million dollar deal. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, however, some of its most high profile performers have pulled out of their contracts including Marshmello, Skrillex, and G-Eazy. 

At the time of writing, it’s uncertain why artists are pulling out. Neither the artists exiting nor Kaos have made a statement regarding the situation. Kaos’ website shows performances from Cardi B and YG on their calendar, but things may change due to recent developments.  

Located inside the PALMS Casino Resort, Kaos Nightclub has been heralded as the new go-to superclub in Las Vegas. The club came correct with a massive grand opening weekend in April with performances from Alicia Keys, Travis Scott, Skrillex, Cardi B, Kaskade, Gorgon City, and many more. 

Kaos Dayclub Pool Parties To Run Through the Winter

Pool parties in the winter? Yes please.

Cardi B will not be performing topless again this year at Kaos Nightclub and Kaos Dayclub. We speak architecturally, of course.

The Palms is advancing its design of its club haven in a massive way with Kaos Dome, which is exactly as it is described: a see-through cover high above the Kaos pools area, connected to Kaos Nightclub.

Both clubs will close entirely Sept. 15 for construction, stay dark for six weeks, then Cardi B returns to re-open the space on Halloween with a “Demon Dome” spectacular.

The resort will keep the structure in place through March, then Kaos Dome comes down for a traditional summer season. If the party crowd loves the Dome, it will be back up in the fall of 2020.

“This is part of the original idea, to run pool parties through the winter,” Palms general manager Jon Gray said in a phone chat Thursday afternoon. “We wanted a transparent, full-daylight, enclosed and climate-controlled environment. It’s incredible, it’s massive and there is nothing else like it in Las Vegas.”

The structure is 70 feet high (easily clearing the 60-foot-tall “Demon With A Bowl” statue by Damien Hirst at the center of the complex) and covers 33,000 square feet of heretofore outdoor pool space. Constructed by Eventstar Structure Corp. of Miami, the structure is in a fixed position where the temperature can be controlled.

“We talked to several vendors to maintain the kind of environment we need to keep it comfortable,” Gray said. “It is a full structure, with columns, a permanent dome.”

The announcement arrives as the hotel has taken over all nightlife operations from Clique Hospitality, brought onboard during the hotel’s extensive renovations. The Palms’ execs are now enacting all of the resorts’ nightlife strategies in-house, and Gray said that his team sent the concept to owners Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta III, who signed off on the Kaos Dome project.

The emphasis on year-round business indicates the scope of both Kaos clubs. Gray said the resort has been pulling in 6,000-8,000 guests per day and night on Saturdays.

“Business is great, our revenues have been great, and if you look at the number of bodies coming through the doors, we are doing very well,” Gray said.

Other popular mass-gatherings, such as New Year’s Eve, Super Bowl watch parties and NCAA Tournament games, are ripe for Kaos Dome treatment.

Kaos Nightclub / Dayclub Grand Opening – First Impressions

It’s been four years since a true megaclub opened in Las Vegas, Omnia at Caesars Palace. Since then, new or renovated nightclub spaces have been trending smaller and focusing on creating more intimate and customizable experiences. We’ve seen it with Jewel at Aria, Intrigue at Wynn and most recently at Park MGM with the innovative On the Record.

The team at the Palms threw that strategy out the window. KAOS is 100,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor party space, which might be hard to imagine if you’re familiar with Vegas’ other giants. It’s bigger than Omnia, Hakkasan, Encore Beach Club and XS, but if you cut it up into nightclub (indoor) and dayclub (outdoor), then KAOS is another intimate nightspace and the biggest pool party club in town. But you can’t do that because it uses most of its acreage every night (or at least it did for the past four nights), changing the flow of the party between two stages and keeping guests thrilled and guessing what would happen next. It’s the best kind of chaos.

The 29,000-square-foot nightclub is a multi-tiered spherical kaleidoscope of color and sound. Moving from the pool into this space is like boarding a spaceship, and the Tesla coil disco balls that “play” music at the center of the ceiling only add to the sci-fi vibes. There’s ample bar space at the back, like a concession concourse at a mini-arena, and a tight dancefloor facing up to a DJ booth that allows its artist-of-the-evening to play to both indoor and outdoor crowds.

The second stage sits between the two main pools outside, a flexible performance area visited by Marshmello, J Balvin, Kaskade, the Zac Brown Band and others over opening weekend. That’s a lot of different stuff. Damien Hirst’s now infamous “Demon With Bowl” statue dominates to the west, planted in the middle of a pool and surrounded by cabanas and the two restaurant patio spaces of Greene St. Kitchen and Shark.

Unless the venue is going to continue packing in record-breaking crowds every day, moving around the 73,000-square-foot KAOS Dayclub is pretty easy, making it the best kind of pool club: one you can enjoy without buying a cabana, daybed or bottle service setup. There are four huge bars around its perimeter, and the larger pool to the east end of the club creates a bit of an oasis amid the insanity. Every other second-level cabana is outfitted with its own private pool cantilevered up to the edge of the overlook, creating yet another cool Instagram shot when those sparkling blue mini-pools are filled with party people. Everything about KAOS’ design is impressive, including the hotel tower-sized LED screen flashing above it … and we won’t even get into the food and booze packages. Another time.

It’s worth noting that KAOS is an instant success because it builds on everything that’s come before it. It’s long been true that there’s no nightclub environment in the world like the one we have in Las Vegas, and the Palms has pushed this style of entertainment to the next level, borrowing successful innovations from the competition and expanding upon them. Tao Beach was the first Vegas venue built specifically for day parties. Wet Republic and Marquee Dayclub brought new ways to party and different sounds to the Strip. Encore Beach Club added luxury and superlative service, Drai’s Beachclub was the first to throw concert-length live performances into the mix, and both of those venues, along with XS Nightclub, advanced the trend of nighttime pool parties.

KAOS looks and feels like it can do all of the above, not surprising considering many members of the team that engineered it have been leading these advancements for years. That’s a great thing for the Palms, an exceptional story for the nightlife industry in general and an even greater thing for Las Vegas, which is what matters most.

Kaos Nightclub at the Palms Opening Date

As is often the case in Las Vegas, the rumors were true. The Palms is building a 100,000-square-foot, multi-level dayclub and nightclub with a massive glass wall-operable door dividing indoor and outdoor spaces, a DJ booth that rotates 360 degrees, a supplemental dome cover that will make it a year-round destination and a 65-foot bronze sculpture of a headless demon.

It’s going to be KAOS.

Set to open in April, the club and amphitheater-style complex is the last big piece of the resort’s $690 million update by Station Casinos, which acquired the 17-year-old off-Strip hotel and casino in 2016. “The opening of KAOS will be the culminating moment for the repositioning of Palms’ renovation,” general manager Jon Gray said in a statement. “We’ve assembled an incredible team of operators, attracted the biggest names across a variety of genres of music and designed a next-level space that will change the club landscape across the globe.”

KAOS takes over spaces previously occupied by the Palms pool and the Rain nightclub. Kaos dayclub is designed by Friedmutter Group LV while Kaos nightclub is designed by the Rockwell Group. As reported Wednesday, the first round of exclusive artist residencies at the new venue includes English electronic music trio Above & Beyond, hip-hop chart-topper Cardi B, Oakland rapper G-Eazy, longtime Vegas club mainstay, DJ and producer Kaskade, and performing for the first time here in two years, Grammy-winning producer and DJ Skrillex.

Imagine attending a Las Vegas pool party in the shadow of British artist Damien Hirst’s eerie, six-story sculpture “Demon with Bowl.” You look around to see layers of private cabanas—39 of them across multiple levels—with sparkling glass pools jutting out over and around the crowd, people dancing and splashing inside them. This could happen at KAOS’ “luxe Greek-inspired oasis” dayclub, as most of its cabanas will feature cantilevered glass pools. Besides the rotating DJ booth that sits at the center of the indoor and outdoor areas, the pool club portion also features an additional stage and live entertainment performance space and “the city’s largest LED wall” on the eastern side of the hotel’s Ivory Tower, streaming live shots of the club for Vegas visitors outside the resort to enjoy.

Pool party season in Las Vegas currently begins in March and runs into October, but dayclub business has grown so lucrative in recent years that several venues have experimented with offseason programming, most notably Marquee’s “dayclub dome” that has added a roof to the Cosmopolitan club for several weeks during winter months. KAOS will be the first Vegas megaclub to be built as a year-round venue. Its nightclub space, according to today’s announcement, “takes inspiration from a modern playhouse, with art and architecture working hand in hand to create a surreal, ever-shifting experience.”

The Palms has also woven technology in the KAOS logo, “the first-ever audio-powered living brand logo” designed to capture the sonic energy created by the club. The “O” in the club’s name is based on 12 audio variable inputs that use voice and music to create its shape, color and motion. KAOS’ first five resident artists are the first to debut this new technology, created by AKQA Portland, with their own unique sound-generated icons being unveiled across social media today, and you can create your own version of the KAOS “O” via an interactive platform on the website at palms.com/kaos.

Kaos Nightclub at the Palms Announces Cardi B Residency

Coming to KAOS, a new day and nightclub opening at the Palms Casino Resort the first weekend in April, Cardi joins a hip-hop and EDM-heavy lineup that will have G-Eazy, Above and Beyond, Kaskade and Skrillex taking up up residencies throughout the year.

Cardi’s dates have not yet been finalized, but the Palms confirmed that the rapper will play a total of 5-6 shows over the course of the next year, beginning this spring and continuing through next winter. Tickets for the first of Cardi’s dates will go on sale in the coming weeks.

Ticket pricing will range from as low as $25 for general admission seats purchased well in advance to as high as $500 at the door, according to Palms general manager Jon Gray. Tables with full bottle service can be bought from anywhere between $2,500 to upwards of $50,000 depending on size and location.

Complete with multiple stages, the state-of-the-art performance space will hold 8,000 guests, featuring a 360 rotating stage positioned between the indoor nightclub space and outdoor rooftop space, allowing artists to simultaneously perform to both guests inside the nightclub and outside in one of several rooftop pools, bars and cabanas.

“It’s our largest venue, so that enabled us to bring a massive group of people here to enjoy the nightlife experience,” Gray said of the 100,000 square foot, $690 million project. While the “nightclub” description might lead customers to expect a cozy environment, KAOS will actually dwarf the Palms’ primary existing music space, the Pearl Concert Theater, a seated venue that hosts rock and country acts like Blink 182, Lady Antebellum and a currently running Billy Idol residency.

“Every date that the club is open will have premiere talent,” Gray said of KAOS, hinting at more acts of Cardi’s caliber to be announced in the coming weeks.

The announcement comes just weeks ahead of Cardi’s performance at the 2019 Grammys, at which the rapper is nominated for five awards including Record of the Year for “I Like It” and Best Rap Album for “Invasion of Privacy.” Earlier this month, she announced a new album coming this spring.
